McCoy, Jacobs to Headline ABC Panel Discussion on Water Access

The NMMA's American Boating Congress (ABC) will be hosting a discussion about the future of boating in the US. It will feature industry leaders Irwin Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Genmar Holdings Inc, Dustan "Dusty" McCoy, chairman and CEO of Brunswick Corp, and US Coast Guard rear admiral Craig Bone, the director of port security for the US Department of Homeland Security.
The panel will also discuss water access and boating safety issues impacting the industry in the future. "Having these two industry leaders of amazing vision and drive together at the same table, discussing their view of the future of recreational boating will surely be a huge draw at this year's ABC," said Monita Fontaine, NMMA vice president of government relations, in a statement. "And add to the mix Admiral Bone, the director of port security, who oversees boating safety, and you have the makings of a great conversation."
Water access will play a large part in the discussion of the overall 2006 ABC. Water access is being challenged by non-water dependent development all across the country, noted the statement.
"Protecting and improving access to America's waterways for the nation's boaters is a key piece of NMMA's government relations mission," said Thom Dammrich, NMMA president, in the statement. "That's why it is crucial for the industry to recognise and support the importance of the Water Access Task Force, whose job it is not only to maintain but increase access for boaters."
The 2006 ABC will be held from April 30 - May 2 at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, DC.
