Mint will contain information about UK companies as well as a news service, a directors database and market research covering UK-based industries.
Described as a fresh approach to company information Mint is aimed primarily at end users in a business development environment. Its emphasis is on ease of use and BvDEP predicts that it will help users identify and utilise information that will benefit their decision making and campaign development with little impact on their time.

Users can quickly combine headline, summary and background information surrounding UK companies in customised reports and lists. Simple on-screen "wizards" take the user through traditionally intricate processes such as creating mailing lists or calculating market share figures.

The news module contains articles taken from the Financial Times newspapers plus the FT Newswire, as well as Reuters and recent merger and acquisition activity from BvDEP's ZEPHYR. It encompasses news relating to events and not just stories about companies. It includes regional and trade press as well as national news - so it can be used to research a wide range of topics.

The directors module contains information on both current and previous directors of UK businesses. The report on each director gives their home address, their date of birth and their nationality plus a list of their current and previous directorships. Biographical information is provided for directors of listed companies. Search criteria allow the identification of directors by various criteria including their age and gender, or the size and type of company they have a directorship of.

The market research module contains UK industry profiles from Datamonitor. They're presented in a consistent format and include information on the market, its size, companies' market share, the competitive landscape and forecasts for the sector. Over 160 profiles are included in Mint so a wide variety of sectors are available.
